Islam and the Balkans with Natalia Rusnac

Join the Turkey-Armenia group for their next education session "Islam and the Balkans." The guest speaker will be Natalia Rusnac, Ph.D candidate at the UCLA's History Department.

Ms. Rusnac will be speaking about the history of Islam in the Balkans as well as the forced population exchanges between the Greek and Muslim populations in Greece and Turkey after WWI. Moreover, we will discuss the treatment of minorities under the Ottoman Empire and the roots of the inter-ethnic conflicts/tensions that still remain till today.
